UW Philosophy is sad to report the passing of Aaron Smuts, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department at Rhode Island College. Prof. Smuts earned his PhD in our department in 2006, with a dissertation Laughing at Art: Humor, Art, and Morality advised by Noël Carroll.

The Department of Philosophy is sad to report the passing of Emeritus Professor Keith Yandell, who taught at UW from 1966 until 2011 and specialized in philosophy of religion. He was a wonderful teacher and scholar and will be sorely missed by his friends, his colleagues, and the UW community.
