Professor Aviles-Meza’s research lies at the intersection of the philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and epistemology. His work focuses on consciousness, particularly its relationship to attention; the formats of mental representation, especially cognitive maps; and, more recently, the foundations of a theory of natural intelligence. He also has interests in aesthetics and South Asian (Buddhist) philosophy.
