Kate received her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Iowa in 2020. Her primary area of specialization is metaphysics. She has a doctoral minor in philosophy of mind. She is primarily interested in the intersection between ontology and modal metaphysics. Her dissertation is on material plenitude—the view that (loosely) every possible modal profile is instantiated. The dissertation aims to establish the best way to stabilize the (notoriously fussy) view, and investigates the downstream implications associated with different choice-points. More recently, she has been interested in applying the tools of higher order logics to debates in metaphysics.
