Jesse Steinberg

Biography

My research primarily focuses on philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and philosophy of science. I’m especially interested in the nature of dispositions and dispositional accounts of various kinds (e.g., of mental states like belief, causation, and free will). I also work on moral philosophy and have lately been spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about ethical issues having to do with food. When not doing philosophy, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and being outdoors. I also play guitar in a Blues band called the Mannish Boys and am one of the owners of a restaurant and events venue called Water Street Social Club.
