Biography

Professor Varsava works in the philosophy of law, focusing on topics of legal reasoning and interpretation, adjudication, judicial decision making, and legal ethics. She is especially interested in precedent, procedural norms and practices, and the relationship between legal and moral reasoning and between law and morality more broadly.

Recent publications include “Reconstructing Precedent” (forthcoming in Interpretivism and its Critics: New Work in Legal Philosophy, Bloomsbury), “Precedent, Reliance, and Dobbs” (Harvard Law Review, 2023), “The Gravitational Force of Future Decisions” (in Philosophical Foundations of Precedent, Oxford UP, 2023), and “Stare Decisis and Intersystemic Adjudication” (Notre Dame Law Review, 2022).
